Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is reportedly on his way to London, as he closes in on a deal to join Arsenal.
Xhaka was heavily linked with the Gunners in the second half of last season after a string of impressive displays in Germany.
Early reports suggested that Arsenal were still pondering whether to match Monchengladbach’s £25million asking price, however they now appear to have decided to go ahead with the deal.
Albanian journalist and friend of the midfielder, Artan Muhaxhiri, posted a photo on Facebook on Thursday with Xhaka, confirming he was set to travel to London.
Muhaxhiri wrote: “BREAKING NEWS: Just confirmed. Granit Xhaka is travelling to London to finalize an agreement with Arsenal FC! Congrats Granit ?#?XhakaGooner?.”
The 23-year-old is expected to arrive in London on Friday, as Arsene Wenger looks to get his first bit of summer business wrapped up early.
The former Basel man will then head off to join his Switzerland team-mates after finalising his contract with the north London club, as he begins preparations for Euro 2016.
