Chelsea are set to turn their attentions to Axel Witsel, but the Zenit St Petersburg midfielder is keen on joining Napoli.
The Belgium international has been linked with a move away from the Russian side for the last few months with Everton, Juventus, Tottenham, Roma, Stoke City, Inter and Milan all thought to be keen.
Reports have now suggested that Chelsea have entered the running to sign the midfielder as they struggle to wrap up a deal for AS Roma star Radja Nainggolan.
However after a spell in Russia, Witsel’s representative Emanuele Cammaroto, says his client would prefer a hot, sunny climate, something England cannot provide.
“Many Napoli fans are asking us about Witsel, so I can tell people one thing: Axel likes Naples and Napoli. For him it’s the team of Diego Armando Maradona,” he said.
“He is a good lad who, unlike others, would have no prejudice against the city, in fact he considers it beautiful. He wants to play in the Champions League and after four years in Russia with Zenit he’d like to play somewhere hot. I think you can work out where it’s sunny and where it isn’t.”
