Spurs target Axel Witsel has confirmed he wants to leave Russian side Zenit St Petersburg this summer and join a Premier League club.
The Belgium international, who is in France with his country for Euro 2016, has been heavily linked with Tottenham in recent weeks, while Everton are also said to be interested.
The winger has now declared he wants away from Zenit and a move to England or Italy is what he wants.
“I’d like to play next season in the Premier League or Italy. I would like to try a new experience in another league; a new challenge,” he said in La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I hope to go to the next level and play in a big European club. It doesn’t matter if I go to Serie A or the Premier League, just that I go to a big club.”
Witsel has one year left on his Zenit contract and is expected to be available for around £10million this summer after spending four years at the Russian club.
