Crystal Palace are reported to have failed with a late move to sign Charlton Athletic winger Ademola Lookman before the window closed.
The Eagles were pushing for new signings right up until the 11pm deadline and it is thought they failed with a late swoop for Lookman, who has been in big demand this summer.
The League One side are reported to have rejected at least two offers from Palace for the 18-year-old, the highest of which was said to be £4.5million.
The Addicks are reported to have wanted at least double that figure while they also wanted to get a replacement in first due to the fact the emergency loan window no longer exists for clubs outside the Premier League.
Palace may revisit the deal when the window reopens in January but for now Lookman is staying at the Valley, much to the disappointment of Alan Pardew.
