Norwich are ready to give winger Nathan Redmond more of a licence to push forward as they look to beat the drop.
Redmond is the club’s joint top goalscorer with four goals this season, but he has not found the back of the net since the 6-2 defeat against Newcastle back in October, and that is something that boss Alex Neil feels needs addressing.
Neil feels the defensive responsibilities have stifled Redmond’s quality and he is ready to take the shackles off and allow him to get more on the front foot.
“I think it was a symptom of the fact during the bad run we have focused on what we do without the ball and trying to keep clean sheets so maybe we are asking Nathan to do something that is not his strength, by dropping him into a deeper area and asking him to break from there,” said Neil.
“I think for me his strength and quality is when he is further up the pitch. We have to try and give him that licence with the way we shape up the team.”
