Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised his side after Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace.
Spurs drew their Premier League opener 1-1 with Everton and there was slight pressure on last season’s title challengers to pick up all three points at White Hart Lane.
It was a tight game between the sides but it was the hosts who created the better chances, with summer arrival Vincent Janssen spurning a good opportunity when fed through by Dele Alli.
A draw appeared to be on the cards before Victor Wanyama, who arrived from Southampton in the current transfer window, headed home from a corner with eight minutes remaining.
Overall, victory was deserved for Tottenham and Pochettino was happy to get the ball rolling on home soil, especially with Champions League fixtures on the calendar this term.
“It’s important to win the three points in the first game at home,” he told BBC Sport. “I think we fully deserved it, I am happy with the performance, we played very well.”
