Southampton have again watched Gent goalkeeper Matz Sels in action ahead of a potential summer offer.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to St Mary’s recently and Saints scouts again ran the rule over him in Gent’s 1-1 draw at Sporting Charleroi on Sunday.
Sels has had an impressive campaign so far, keeping 11 clean sheets out of 30 games, and his performances have helped his side up to second in the Belgian top flight.
The Belgium Under-21 international has been attracting plenty of attention from across Europe and a move to the south coast could beckon if Ronald Koeman makes his move in the summer, although he could face some stiff opposition as at least a handful of other clubs are keen.
Sels is under contract at Gent until 2019 but offers in the region of £6million could be enough to prise him away.
Koeman has Fraser Forster as his first choice and will hope to keep hold of him but, Sels may be brought in as competition or even his replacement if the England international leaves for big money when the transfer window reopens.
