Why Swansea players all call Alan Curtis ‘The Legend’

12 Mar

Curtis was briefly put at the helm following Garry Monk’s sacking in December, only for Francesco Guidolin’s arrival to see him demoted again.

But with the Italian sidelined with a lung infection, Curtis oversaw wins over Arsenal and Norwich, and will be in charge again at the Vitality Stadium even though his boss is now out of hospital

Curtis, 60, has the best points per game ratio of any of the three men who have led Swansea this season.

The former Wales striker has given the Swans nearly four decades of service as a player, coach, community officer and now boss.

His status at the club is such that the club’s press WiFi password includes his name, while his seat used to be marked as ‘reserved for the legend that is Alan Curtis’.

The man himself laughs off such adoration, but Sigurdsson reckons there can be no overstating Curtis’ importance.
