Why Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola will set the Premier League alight

Back in the glory days of United and neighbours City, it was Sir Matt Busby in the Red corner and Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison in the Blue.

Now, in 2016, we are set for a heavyweight rematch, this time between footballing giants Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, who from their respective offices – just five-and-a-half miles apart – will be planning their knockout blows.

And come August 13, supporters of both Manchester clubs will be ready to settle back, crack open the beers and enjoy a ding-dong fight for Premier League supremacy.

Let battle commence.

In an unprecedented move, Guardiola will be unveiled to the City faithful a week today when 11,000 fans will pack into the club’s Academy stadium, where they will experience a glittering array of firsts – the first sighting of their new boss, their new badge and their new kit.

Ilkay Gundogan – the Spaniard’s first signing – will be on show, too, as Guardiola takes to the stage to answer fans’ questions.
