Steven Whittaker is targeting an immediate return to the Premier League after penning a new 12-month contract with Norwich.
Had the Canaries won their battle to stay in the Premier League there is every chance Whittaker would have been heading for the exit door, but boss Alex Neil believes he will be crucial in the second tier.
Whittaker is also delighted to be staying at Carrow Road and hopes to play another crucial role in helping the Canaries back into the top flight at the first time of asking.
“I’m over the moon to stay here, I’ve really enjoyed my four years,” he told the club’s official website. “The manager spoke to me towards the end of the season and said it was a frustrating season for myself, but he reminded me what a great job I’d done for him in the Championship and he believes I can do that again.
“I’m here, in the squad and ready to get to work again to battle for my place.”
