Stoke are sweating on the fitness of midfielder Glenn Whelan ahead of the clash with Liverpool after he picked up a back injury.
Potters boss Mark Hughes was forced to shuffle his pack against Swansea at the weekend as injuries start to bite, and he will face similar problems ahead of the Liverpool game.
Whelan is among those being closely monitored ahead of Sunday’s clash at Anfield after returning from Irish duty with a back problem ahead of the Swansea draw.
“He had a spasm in his back and it was touch and go whether or not he started,” Hughes admitted after the game.
“As ever he put his hand up to play, but obviously wasn’t able to complete the full 90 and we were actually trying to get him off when we conceded the second goal.”
