The 20-year-old was tipped for big things with the Hammers after joining the academy as a kid.

He was even included on the bench for a Europa League qualifier against Romanian outfit Astra last season.

But months later he was was left in the footballing wilderness – dumped by the club just two years after signing a pro deal.

Mavila went on trial at a host of lower-league teams before eventually agreeing to join part-time Maidstone in the National League.

The youngster told KentOnline: “It’s been tough, turning professional at West Ham and not making the grade for them.
