According to reports in Italy, Lazio are said to have contacted the Hammers with regard to taking Valencia on loan for next season, with the deal including a mandatory purchase option of 12million euros which will become active next summer.

West Ham are thought to have gone back to the Serie A outfit with a counter offer, telling them they are willing to let the Ecuador international leave if they are able to take him permanently this summer for 15m euros.

The east London outfit are keen to bring in two new strikers during the current transfer window and could look to partly finance those moves through selling Valencia and Diafra Sakho, who is wanted by Sunderland.
