Barcelona are trying to hijack West Ham’s move for Jonathan Calleri at the 11th hour.
The striker spent last season on loan at Sao Paulo from Deportivo Maldonado and he is set to be on the move again this summer.
West Ham have been locked in negotiations for the 22-year-old since the end of the season and it was thought a deal was finally close to completion.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are trying to hijack the Hammers’ deal at the last minute.
Barcelona technical director Robert Fernandez will hold talks with Calleri’s agent this week ahead of a move to the Nou Camp.
The Spanish champions had previously tried to sign two other South American stars – Gabriel Barbosa and Gabriel Jesus – but after those deals went cold, with the latter signing for Manchester City, they are now ready to go all in for Calleri.
