West Bromwich Albion have turned down £20m bids for striker Saido Berahino from Crystal Palace and Stoke City.
It is understood Palace’s bid for the 22-year-old was £20m plus £3m in add-ons, while Stoke’s offer was £17m up front with £3m in add-ons.
Berahino scored 20 goals in 2014-15 but struggled for form last season, scoring just four times in the league.
Palace are short of options up front after selling Dwight Gayle to Newcastle for £10m.
BBC Radio 5 live reporter Pat Murphy:
“Palace’s bid is more straightforward than the one from Stoke earlier this week.
“West Brom’s owner Jeremy Peace is determined to push the price up, reflecting the inflated market due to the new Premier League television deal.
“And they won’t sell until they’ve lined up a replacement for Berahino.”
