Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he wants to add experience to his backline following the injury picked up by Per Mertesacker.
The 31-year-old defender is set to miss the start of the Premier League season after sustaining an injury to his knee in Friday’s pre-season draw with Lens.
Wenger is likely to partner Laurent Koscielny with Gabriel in the heart of defence, while new signing Rob Holding could also be handed an early chance to impress.
However, the Frenchman insists he is looking for another option and feels Arsenal are short of experience without the former Germany international available.
Wenger said: “We have to look for an option.
“With Per being out, we are a bit short on the experience front and we are looking to bring somebody in.”
Punters using their free bet may want to back the Gunners to start the Premier League season on a positive note when they host Liverpool on August 14.
