Webby nomination for Champions League app

The official UEFA Champions League app only launched this season but it has already been selected as one of the world’s best mobile sites or apps – and you can help ensure it does not end there.

Webby People’s Voice Award: Vote NOW

The app is one of five nominees for the sports category at the 20th Webby Awards – considered to be the internet equivalent of the Oscars. The Green Bay Packers site, FanDuel app, ESPN and FieldLevel complete the shortlist, who now battle it out on two fronts:

1. Webby Winner – picked by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences.

2. Webby People’s Voice Award – chosen by a public vote that runs until 12.59CET on Thursday 21 April. Have your say …

The users’ Team of the Year just missed out on the final five for the celebrity/fan website category, but was named as one of nine honourees.

2009: an honouree for best home/welcome page
2010: an honouree for the sports category
2011: shortlisted for the sports award
2013: UEFA Champions League section shortlisted for best sports website and won a Lovie (the European version of the awards)
2014: users’ Team of the Year campaign and official UEFA Champions League Facebook page both honourees

Award announcement
The Webby winners will be announced on 26 April and honoured at the 20th Annual Webby Awards in New York on 16 May, 12 days before this season’s UEFA Champions League final in Milan.
