Troy Deeney scored two late goals as Watford edged Aston Villa 3-2 in an entertaining game at Vicarage Road.
The away side took the lead in the 28th minute, with Ciaran Clark heading home Ashley Westwood’s corner and they almost doubled their advantage when Jordan Ayew headed against the post.
The Hornets levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time when they won a free-kick 25 yards out, and Almen Abdi stepped up and curled the ball over the wall and into the bottom corner.
Already-relegated Villa then took the lead in the 48th minute when Ayew exchanged passes with Rudy Gestede before slamming home a shot into the bottom corner.
Eric Black’s side were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when Aly Cissokho hauled down Ikechi Anya as the last man and Deeney made the advantage count in the 90th minute when he glanced home a header.
The home side then got the winner in the 93rd minute when Deeney received the ball just outside the area and slotted the ball past Mark Bunn to give his side just a second win in nine games.
