Goals from Jon Walters and Joselu saw Stoke City beat Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road.
The visitors made the brighter start and were rewarded in the 18th minute when Phil Bardsley attacked down the right and crossed the ball for Walters to sweep home from six yards.
Quique Sanchez Flores’ side didn’t wake up until after the break and they had a great chance to level just seconds after the restart but Odion Ighalo drilled his shot wide.
The Potters doubled their advantage just minutes later when Walters cushioned a header back to Joselu and the Spaniard cleverly lobbed the ball over the advancing Heurelho Gomes.
It could have been three minutes later but Gomes got down really well to brilliantly keep out Ibrahim Affellay’s curling effort as Mark Hughes’ side threatened to run riot.
The home side pulled a goal back with five minutes to go when Troy Deeney headed home a cross from Ikechi Anya, but Stoke held on to move up to seventh in the table.
