WATCH: Mo Diame’s stunning promotion-winning goal as Hull beat Sheffield Wednesday in Championship play-off final
It’s said top goalscorers are worth their weight in gold (probably), but Mo Diame scored a goal worth approximately £163million to take Hull back to the Premier League.
The Tigers went head-to-head with Sheffield Wednesday for promotion in Saturday’s Championship play-off final at Wembley on Saturday, and Steve Bruce’s side appeared to want it more as they sealed an immediate return to the top flight.
The Owls were second best throughout, although they were still in with a shot of stealing a win as Hull failed to take their many goalscoring opportunities.
Bruce was a nervous, angry wreck on the sidelines as his men wasted chance after chance, but the boss breathed a huge sigh of relief when Diame stepped forward with a stunner.
Given far too much space 25 yards out, Diame took his chance and sent a wonderful strike over the outstretched hand of Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood, sparking pandemonium in the Hull half of the stadium.
