Frank Lampard was jeered by his own fans when he came on as a second-half substitute in the New York derby.
New York City were hammered 7-0 by local rivals Red Bulls and the Chelsea legend replaced Andrea Pirlo on 74 minutes.
It was his first appearance of the season and fans voiced their displeasure with the 37-year-old after limited game time since his arrival.
The ex-England midfielder has been out of action since March with a calf injury and he was booed once again when his name was shown on screen.
