Stoke stopper Butland and Saints number one Forster are in line to play some part in the games with Germany and Holland over the next few days, with Hart out with a calf injury.

Ward-Prowse has played with Butland at international level while he is Forster’s colleague at St Mary’s and feels they are both well equipped to deputise for Manchester City’s Hart, with England 17/4 with Titanbet to beat world champions Germany in Berlin on Saturday.

“I think all of the keepers are ready. We can’t forget about my club-mate Fraser Forster, who has been in fantastic form,” said the midfielder, who is involved for England Under-21s when they play a European Championship qualifier in Switzerland on Saturday.

“He has been the reason why we have been solid at Southampton.

“They are both top keepers and top guys and now they’ve got the opportunity I’m sure they will be raring to go to take it with both hands.”

Forster has kept six clean sheets in 11 games since returning in January after 10 months out with a serious knee injury and Ward-Prowse always believed he would make an instant impact.

He said: “To me it was no surprise. I am really good friends with him and to see the work he put in in the gym to make sure he was physically at his best, it wasn’t any surprise that come the first game he looked like he had been playing all season.

“It’s credit to him and hopefully it will continue for club and country. (England manager) Roy (Hodgson) has a lot to choose from which is good for the national team.”
