Victor Wanyama clams no one at Tottenham is targeting winning the Premier League despite their good start to the season.
Spurs went into the international break on a major high after defeating title favourites Manchester City 2-0 at White Hart Lane, a result which moved them to within a point of Pep Guardiola’s league leaders in second.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are the last unbeaten side left in the Premier League this season and have done enough in the first seven matches to convinces fans and pundits alike they are genuine contenders to be crowned champions.
However, Wanyama insists the Spurs players are not talking up their title hopes after claiming the current target is to make sure they improve on last year’s third-place finish, as well as progressing in Europe.
“It’s easy to just say we can win the league, but if we work hard then anything is possible,” he told Four Four Two. “We don’t talk about the title as a target. Our target is to improve on last season’s position.
“We have young players who want to work hard and who are very ambitious, which is a very good thing.”
