Victor Wanyama has confirmed he has passed his medical at Tottenham and has thanked Southampton for his “exceptional time” at the club.
The midfielder has been a long-term target for Spurs and will finally get the move he wanted 12 months ago, with a fee in the region of £11million now agreed between the two clubs.
The Kenya international underwent his medical earlier this week and has revealed he passed it without any problems so the switch should be officially announced before the weekend.
“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham,” he told soka25east.com. “It’s a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team.”
Wanyama will be reunited with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino after the Argentine first signed him in 2013 from Celtic when he was in charge at St Mary’s
The 24-year-old says he enjoyed his time on the south coast and left the club with a parting message.
He said: “I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together I will always have a fond place for them in my heart.”
