Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko admits he is flattered to be linked with a move to Real Madrid as he continues to wait for a move away from the Championship club to materialise.
The 26-year-old impressed for France at Euro 2016 and he has since been tipped for a summer switch to the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are in need of midfield reinforcements and Sissoko’s ability to play in a number of positions reportedly makes him an attractive proposition.
Newcastle are said to want £35million for the France international, which could prove to be a stumbling bock for any potential deal.
But as talk of a move to Real Madrid grows, Sissoko confesses it is pleasing to be linked with such a big team.
“Who would not be flattered? Real Madrid are one of the best clubs in the world. It is nice to be a player who interests great clubs,” Sissoko told Foot Mercato.
“For the moment, I am still a Newcastle player. I am waiting. And if it is Real Madrid, then great. It is true that Real Madrid are difficult to refuse.
“But as I have said, there will be lots of things to take into account. We will have to think about it. I will make a decision with my agent.
“We will have a discussion. Whatever the club, we will decide together and make the best decision.”
