Stoke’s Jonathan Walters has returned to training ahead of Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2016 last-16 clash with France.
Walters missed the ROI’s final two group games with an Achilles problem and it appeared as if his tournament could be over until Robbie Brady’s late goal against Italy secured a spot in the knockout stages for Martin O’Neill’s men.
The Stoke forward returned to training on Friday and could come into contention for Sunday’s clash with France.
However, Walters may have to settle for a place on the bench as the Republic of Ireland can call on the same side that secured a famous win over Italy in the final round of fixtures.
