Vincent Kompany: My Man City side must stop Ronaldo if we are going to have any chance

Manuel Pellegrini’s men face Real Madrid at the Etihad tonight in the semi-final, first leg showdown.

It will be the biggest game in the club’s history as City look to overcome Zinedine Zidane’s Spanish giants and reach the final for the first time.

But City must find a way to keep Ronaldo quiet as the Portuguese superstar sets his sights on winning a third European Cup.

And Kompany said: “It is one of those things, you are in a press conference, and you play against Barcelona or Real you know you are going to get a question about Ronaldo or Messi.

“But the answer is always going to be the same. If you play really well as a team you have a chance of stopping him – and if not he will probably score a goal.”
