Aston Villa are awaiting news over the extent of the knee injury Jordan Lyden sustained during Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.
The highly-rated Lyden was making only his second Premier League start at the Emirates Stadium but was forced to leave the field in some distress in the 75th minute.
Villa caretaker manager Eric Black revealed after the match that Lyden had “tweaked his meniscus” but added it was too soon to make an accurate assessment of the injury.
The club are expected to book the 20-year-old Australian in for scans on the knee and should know more in the next 48 hours.
The midfielder spent much of last season out with a hamstring injury before finally breaking into the first team this year.
His appearance at Arsenal, where he played as an emergency right-back, was his sixth of the 2015/16 campaign.
