Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans is a target for new Aston Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo and a deal looks to be on the cards.
The Scotland international worked with the Italian at West Bromwich Albion in 2009-10 and was a key cog as the Baggies won promotion to the Premier League.
Dorrans joined Norwich on a two-year contract last year after helping them to promotion via the play-offs as a loan player.
But the 29-year-old struggled to keep his place in Alex NeilÂ’s starting line-up during the second half of the season and could be open to a fresh start.
Norwich want to retain Dorrans after their own relegation was confirmed and believe he is an ideal squad member as they plot their route back to the Premier League.
However reports claim they are facing a losing battle.
Di Matteo’s new assistant boss Steve Clarke has also worked with Dorrans at The Hawthorns and could also help in persuading the player to make the switch.
