Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has shot down suggestions he would be interested in returning to Aston Villa after Euro 2016.
O’Neill enjoyed a reasonably successful spell as manager at Villa Park between 2006 and 2010 before walking away ahead of the start of the 2010/11 season following a dispute with owner Randy Lerner over transfer funds.
The 63-year-old is currently in charge of the Republic of Ireland national side but has yet to reveal whether he will stay on in the job after Euro 2016, when his current contract expires.
Given the acrimonious circumstances in which he left Villa, it seems unlikely O’Neill would return and he has been quick to rule himself out.
“I have a job to do here. I am delighted with the job. How dare you ask me?” said O’Neill.
