Burnley have been linked with a summer swoop to sign Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood if they secure Premier League promotion.
The Clarets are on course for an immediate return to the top flight this season, as they occupy top spot in the Championship on goal difference ahead of Middlesbrough and Brighton with arguably the easier run-in, while the other two clubs face each other on the final day.
And it seems boss Sean Dyche is already plotting to bolster his squad for another Premier League campaign, having fallen just short in their quest to survive in 2014-15.
Westwood, who joined Villa in a £2million deal from Crewe in 2012, would no doubt be keen on making an immediate return to the Premier League after Villa’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed over a week ago.
He would also link up with former Villa man Matthew Lowton, who joined Burnley last summer as a replacement for Tottenham-bound Kieran Trippier.
