Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is keen to keep Jamie Vardy but says the final decision over a move to Arsenal rests with the player.
The Gunners have matched the release clause in the striker’s contract so the Foxes are powerless to keep hold of the England international.
Arsene Wenger was hoping to push through a deal before the start of Euro 2016 but Vardy stalled on making a decision and the Gunners boss will have to wait until after the tournament has finished.
A move is far from guaranteed as Vardy is reported to be having reservations over quitting Leicester for Arsenal, and Ranieri admits the final decision is down to the player.
“We want to keep him, Arsenal have said they will pay the full release clause, but he hasn’t accepted yet,” Ranieri admitted. “He gets the last word.”
The Gunners are also said to be tracking Vardy’s team-mates Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante.
