Reports claim Everton have made a renewed attempt to land Juan Mata from Manchester United as Ronald Koeman looks to strengthen.
The Dutch boss has money burning in a hole in his pocket following the sale of John Stones to Manchester city in midweek and he is desperate to add to his squad.
With reports suggesting Romelu Lukaku could still be on his way back to Chelsea, Everton are in need of more attacking power.
Mata’s United future appeared in doubt last season and it looks the same this time around after Jose Mourinho, who originally sold Mata to United from Chelsea, brought the midfielder off less than half an hour after bringing him on in Sunday’s Community Shield win over Leicester.
It remains to be seen if Everton can persuade United to sell the Spanish international before the closure of the transfer window.
