Real Sociedad have confirmed that talks have been held with Juanmi over the Southampton striker heading back to Spain this summer.
The Spaniard is being targeted by several Primera Division sides after a disappointing season at St Mary’s following his £5million move from Malaga almost a year ago.
The striker has failed to score in 21 appearances for the Saints, prompting speculation that the 22-year-old is unhappy on the South Coast.
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has now revealed that the Basque club have held talks with Juanmi, although he didn’t mention any agreement with Southampton.
“There have been discussions between the club [La Real] and the player. We’ll see if [these discussions] bear fruit,” he told AS at his club’s training base in Hernani.
