Marouane Fellaini will escape a club fine even if the Manchester United man is charged by the FA for elbowing Leicester’s Robert Huth.
The Belgium international is expected to learn over the next 24 hours if he will find himself in the dock, and facing a potential three-match suspension.
Video replays showed Fellaini’s elbow catch the German flush in the jaw during the first-half of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against the Foxes at Old Trafford.
Referee Michael Oliver missed the incident but Fellaini could still face retrospective action, having already earned a reputation in recent seasons for the use of his elbows.
United boss Louis van Gaal, however, will stand by the 28-year-old, who cited Huth’s initial hair-pulling of his man in the penalty area grapple.
Van Gaal has a strict fine policy in place for all of his squad, if they step out of line, and recently fined Fellaini for turning up one minute late for lunch at Carrington.
Fellaini was dismissed on the final day of last season against Hull City for a crude challenge on Paul McShane, which also saw him suspended for the opening three games of this campaign.
The former Everton man is expected to leave United this summer but he can be confident his £110,000-a-week wages will remain untouched for the Huth incident.
