Manchester United are set to declare Guillermo Varela fit for Thursday’s Europa League second-leg home tie against Liverpool.
The Uruguayan right-back has made significant progress over the last 24 hours from a painful dead leg picked up during Sunday’s FA Cup draw with West Ham United.
It’s understood the 22-year-old was able to train at Carrington on Tuesday and will now be included in Wednesdau’s full session in front of the assembled media cameras.
United boss Louis van Gaal faces a difficult decision, however, due to the impressive form of Varela, with United trailing Liverpool 2-0 from the first-leg a week ago at Anfield.
Italian full-back Matteo Darmian is back at peak fitness, whilst winger Antonio Valencia also now gives the Dutchman another attacking option, playing from deep on the right-hand side.
