West Brom’s academy talent-spotter Steve Hopcroft is understood to be on his way to join the backroom staff at Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been working relentlessly behind the scenes for the last six months as they look to improve their youth set-up.
Former midfielder Nicky Butt, who was appointed as the academy chief, has been on the lookout for a new scout capable of bringing in top young talent.
Hopcroft is credited with finding the likes of Saido Berahino, Isaiah Brown and Jerome Sinclair and reports claim that the 49-year-old has already agreed a move away from West Brom and notified the West Midlands club of his plans.
It’s understood that he will become part of the staff at Old Trafford before the end of the year as United chief executive Ed Woodward continues his academy revamp.
