Boss Louis van Gaal is set to avoid the axe at the end of the season and will reportedly see out his contract with Manchester United.
The 64-year-old has been widely tipped to leave Old Trafford in the summer after an underwhelming campaign, with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho having already reportedly agreed to take over as United manager.
However, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, who have a history of providing accurate reports on van Gaal, are now claiming the United board have reconsidered axing the former Netherlands boss.
Despite potentially missing out on the Champions League, Van Gaal has been told his job is safe for another season and that he will be allowed to see out his current contract which expires at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Dutch tactician is also thought to have been informed he will have a transfer war chest of £80million to spend on new players with the squad in need of reinforcements in several areas.
