Manchester United have made enquiries regarding Mexico winger Hirving Lozano, 20, Pachuca have confirmed.
Lozano is currently with the Mexico squad at the ongoing Copa America Centario but Pachuca’s vice-president Andres Fassi has revealed there is real interest from Old Trafford.
United’s approach almost certainly pre-dates the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager but that does not necessarily mean the Premier League side’s interest has ended.
Lozano is highly rated in his homeland and featured as a second-half substitute in Mexico’s 3-1 win over Uruguay in the Copa earlier this week.
The likes of Real Sociedad, Porto and rivals Liverpool have been linked with the Pachuca starlet in the past but it seems as if United have made the first move.
“There have been approaches [from Manchester United],” Pachuca vice-president Andres Fassi told Record. “There will be time to focus on the future of Hirving Lozano.
“For several years Pachuca has had great relationships with many teams of England, in Portugal, in Spain, in France, in Italy and in Germany.
“[There] are some agreements that allow the player to go to Europe in the future.”
Lozano broke into the Pachuca side in February 2014 and has since managed 29 goals in 103 appearances in Mexico’s top flight.
