Ashley Young, Phil Jones and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson could be back in the first team soon after appearing for the Man Utd Under-21s.
The injured trio took another big step forward in their recovery in front of watching boss Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford as they faced off against Chelsea’s Under-21 side on Monday.
Young, who has missed the last three months with a serious groin injury, was able to last the entire 90 minutes, and had a hand in James Weir’s leveller for the Red Devils.
The winger will be further assessed over the next 48 hours although United were remaining tight-lipped whether Young will now be in contention for Sunday’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
Borthwick-Jackson also has a chance of making the squad for the clash in north London after a solid outing, with the full-back having not played since the FA Cup win at Shrewsbury in February.
Jones looked to be much further off the pace, having been sidelined since February with an ankle problem, and was eventually substituted on 80 minutes, clearly unfit.
