West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking believes it is great that Manuel Lanzini has become the latest star player to sign a contract with the Hammers.
It was confirmed by co-chairman David Sullivan that Lanzini has agreed a permanent move to Upton Park following his impressive season with the east London side.
A four-year deal has been signed, with the option for two further years, and the 23-year-old playmaker looks set to continue establishing himself as a key player under the management of Slaven Bilic.
Lanzini is the latest player to tie his future down with West Ham, having also seen Dimitri Payet and Cheikhou Kouyate agree contract extensions, and Brooking is delighted with the moves his former club are making.
When asked about Lanzini’s contract, Brooking said: “It’s great. I was asking the two Daves if they had sorted Lanzini out just a couple of weeks ago.
“He was outstanding until he got injured earlier this season. Then he came back and he and Dimitri Payet together are great. It’s good to sort him, Payet and Kouyate out for the next few years.”
The former midfielder, who played 647 times for the club, also believes West Ham are creative a formidable side, with only a few more signings needed to push them to the next level.
He added: “With three or four new players, the right sort of people, I think they can be very dangerous next year.”
