Here are the top transfer-related stories in Friday’s newspapers…


Reports are varied over how much Jose Mourinho will be paid in his deal to become Manchester United, with the Daily Express quoting £10million-a-year, while the Daily Mail claim he will earn £15m-a-year in the Old Trafford hotseat.

It is also reported the Portuguese coach will get a £5m bonus if he guides the Red Devils to Champions League glory, and £2.5m for the Premier League title. (The Independent)

Chelsea will issue a ‘hands off’ warning to Mourinho over Brazil international Willian, following his soon-to-be announced appointment at Man United. The ex-Blues manager Mourinho is reported to be plotting a £60m move to make Willian his first signing at Old Trafford hotseat. (Evening Standard)

United and Chelsea are also set for a battle over Sporting Lisbon midfielder £47million-rated Joao Mario. Mario has distanced himself from the rumours, however, saying he is fully focused on Portugal’s Euro 2016 campaign. (Daily Express)

The Blues are confident of re-signing striker Romelu Lukaku, who wants to leave Everton ‘to win titles’, for £65m, having sold him to the Toffees for £28m two years ago. (Daily Mirror)​

Pep Guardiola wants a complete overhaul of Manchester City’s squad this summer and has urged club chiefs to give him a £200m war chest to buy up to eight players. (Daily Mirror)

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is expected to become Guardiola’s first City signing next week in a deal worth roughly £20m. (Daily Mirror)

Meanwhile, City midfielder Yaya Toure apparently wants to be a part of Guardiola’s revolution at the Etihad Stadium. The Ivorian star has reportedly rejected offers of £30m from Chinese clubs Shanghai SIPG and Jiangsu Suning, and also has no interest in joining Inter Milan. (The Guardian)

Liverpool may look to raid Southampton once more as they eye up a move for £25m-rated forward Sadio Mane, after the Reds’ top summer target Mario Gotze revealed his intention to stay at Bayern Munich. (Daily Star)

Martin Skrtel’s agent says the 31-year-old defender is “90% sure to leave Liverpool” this summer. Turkish side Besiktas is a possible next destination for the Slovakia international. (ESPN)

Tottenham have begun talks over a move for Basel forward Breel Embolo, 19, who has scored 21 goals in 61 leagues appearances for the Swiss giants. (Daily Express)

The agent of Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum admits the Dutchman is considering his future at St James’ Park and could leave the club this summer. The 25-year-old has been linked with a £12m move to Roma.  (Newcastle Chronicle)
