Transfer rumours and paper review – Friday, July 15: Schweinsteiger refusing to quit Man United, Arsenal to lose out on Higuain and Balotelli to China?

Here’s all the top transfer-related stories in Friday’s newspapers…

Manchester City have balked at Schalke’s £42 million starting valuation of Leroy Sane but hope to reach a compromise with the German club. City rate the starlet at £35m and are confident of pushing through a deal. (Daily Telegraph)

Mario Balotelli could move to China this summer. The Liverpool striker has been told by Jurgen Klopp to find a new club. Mega-rich Chinese Super League sides are keen – although a deal must be completed before their transfer window shuts at midnight on Friday. (Daily Express)

Juventus are the new favourites to land Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain. Arsenal are keen on the Argentine, but the Italian giants are ready to meet his release clause of almost £80m and have already held talks with the player about a move to Turin. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

Manchester United will have to fork out £14m to axe flop midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger – but he is refusing to quit the club. United are looking at ways to axe the 31-year-old, but will have to pay the remaining two-years left on his contract. Paris Saint Germain have also been keeping a close eye on his situation as they believe he could help with shirt sales and their global brand. (The Sun)

Premier League champions Leicester City have submitted their ‘third and final offer’ for Burnley defender Michael Keane. Having been knocked back on two previous occasions, Leicester have now submitted their final offer of £15 million for the defender. (Metro)

Burnley have made an improved £6million bid for Jeff Hendrick – but it will still not be enough for Derby. Derby dismissed out of hand Burnley’s opening £3.5million offer for the Republic of Ireland Euro 2016 hero. The Clarets have returned with an increased bid but the Rams do not want to sell the midfielder and value him at much higher than £6million. (Daily Mirror)

Emanuele Giaccherini is set to leave Sunderland after his agent confirmed a move to Napoli is “all done.” (ESPN)

Xherdan Shaqiri is wanted by Borussia Dortmund as a replacement or Manchester United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan. And Stoke City bosses may be tempted to cash in on Shaqiri, who had an inconsistent first season with the Potters which saw him score just three goals. (The Sun)

Borussia Dortmund are also keen on Newcastle and France ace Moussa Sissoko after his impressive Euro 2016. (L’Equipe)
