Transfer report: West Ham could turn to Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini after Stoke drop out of chase
Stoke City have dropped their interest in Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, paving the way for West Ham to make an approach.
It is understood Gabbiadini is considering his future in Italy after only making four Serie A starts for the club last term.
Stoke were said to be in advanced talks with Napoli for the 24-year-old but, according to Sky Italia, Mark Hughes’ side have dropped out of the race after failing to agree a fee.
That may allow West Ham to step up their pursuit, with the Hammers becoming increasingly desperate to recruit a frontman having had bids for Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Callum Wilson all fail.
Napoli would prefer to keep hold of Gabbiadini as they look to maintain their squad depth for their Champions League campaign.
But the prospect of playing in the Premier League and earning a better salary means the striker is likely to want to talk to West Ham.
