Real Madrid have made Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez their top transfer target – with Tottenham’s Harry Kane considered a backup option.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Madrid are desperate to bring former Barcelona man Sanchez back to LaLiga.
The Chile forward is out of contract at the end of this season and is yet to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
He came close to joining Manchester City on deadline day of the summer transfer window but eventually stayed put at Arsenal, with the Gunners unable to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar as Sanchez’s replacement.
However he is free to speak to clubs outside of England in January about a potential switch in the summer.
Madrid are said to be confident of landing him but it has also been reported they have an ambitious plan if they fail to bring in Sanchez.
That comes in the form of Tottenham star Kane, who is considered one of the world’s best centre-forwards having scored 77 goals in his last 107 Premier League games.
It has been suggested Madrid see Kane, 24, as a potential long-term replacement for current goal-getter Cristiano Ronaldo, who turns 33 in February.
