Marseille prodigy Georges-Kevin N’Koudou is expected to put a move to Everton or Tottenham on hold for a year.
The winger enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Ligue 1 side last term, scoring 10 goals and providing a further five assists in 36 appearances.
Both clubs scouted the 21-year-old on regular occasions last season and have been in contact with Marseille over his availability this summer.
According to L’Equipe, Marseille are refusing to negotiate with either club and have told the player his development will be enhanced if he stays in France for another season.
A France Under-21 international, N’Koudou graduated from the Nantes academy in 2013 before Marseille swooped for him last summer.
N’Koudou penned a five-year contract with Marseille when he joined and while the club are under no illusion that he is likely to be snapped up by a Premier League club in the future, they have told the playmaker in no uncertain terms that he will be staying put this summer.
