Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France.
Cavani, who scored the winner agains Guus Hiddink’s side in their Champions League last 16 first leg last week, is reportedly considering leaving the French capital at the end of the season as he seeks a fresh challenge
According to Mercato 365, Chelsea’s representatives spoke to their PSG counterparts about Cavani’s availability last week and are now lining up a bid for the Uruguayan international.
Cavani’s contract with PSG doesn’t expire until 2018 but the forward already has his heart set on a move away from the Parc des Prince this summer.
United are also keen on landing the 29-year-old hitman and a bidding war between the two clubs could take place in the summer.
However, both clubs are expected to hold fire on firming up their interest in Cavani until they have new managers in place.
