Barcelona are preparing a summer move for Arsenal and Manchester United target Kostas Manolas.
The AS Roma defender has been on the radar of both English clubs for some time but Arsenal landed Shkodran Mustafi and United signed Eric Bailly instead during the summer window.
That meant Manolas has stayed put in Rome for now but, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona are ready to reignite their interest in the Greece international.
The La Liga giants are conscious of the fact that two of their centre-backs, Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu, are both 32 so they want to add some fresh blood to their defensive options.
And it has been reported that they are willing to firm up a long-standing interest in 25-year-old Manolas with a bid – but not until the end of the season.
That could open the door for one of his English suitors to launch a January raid on Roma but it has been suggested that the defender himself would prefer a move to Barca should he be sold so he could hold out for the summer.
