Liverpool and Tottenham are battling it out to land Germany’s left-back Jonas Hector.
The 26-year-old left-back has been one of the standout performers at this summer’s Euro 2016 and Cologne are now bracing themselves for interest.
And, according to German news outlet Express, both Spurs and Liverpool are hoping to bring him to the Premier League before the start of the new season.
The defender, who played in the German fifth tier until he was 20, has been at Cologne since 2010 and has made 65 Bundesliga appearances so far.
But it has been his assured performances for semi-finalists Germany, plus his winning penalty against Italy in the quarter-finals, which have really attracted the attention of a number of clubs who could be ready to offer the £17m asking price.
However, both English clubs will face competition from within Germany as Wolfsburg are understood to be lining up an offer for Hector too.
