Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele facing TEN game ban for Diego Costa eye-gouge

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele is facing a ten-game ban following his eye-gouge on Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to the Sun.

The incident, which happened on the stroke of half time during the clash between the two side on Monday, is thought to be classed in the same bracket as former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s bite on Branislav Ivanovic.

The Uruguayan was suspended for ten games for that and if Dembele is found to have deliberately poked Costa’s eye then he will be hit just as hard.

The incident occurred during a melee in the first half and was missed by referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants in what was a bad tempered match at Stamford Bridge.

Erik Lamela – who was caught on camera standing on the hand of Cesc Fabregas – is likely to escape punishment, as is Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, after the latter sparked a brawl in the tunnel after the full-time whistle.
